Accomplishments:

Attorney with many years of experience in Orange County, California and Wayne County, Michigan involved in hundreds of cases at all levels of litigation from initial client interview through completion of trials:

Trials:

I have been either first or second chair on 6 jury trials, 2 bench trials, and multiple arbitrations and mediations.

Appellate Work: I have prepared briefs before the California Supreme Court and the California Court of Appeals.

Class Actions:

I have had personal experience in both defending class action claims and prosecuting them. I successfully defeated an attempted class action against The University of California. I have also successfully prosecuted class actions against Wallmart, Lowes, H&R Block, AON, Del Amo Hospital, and Stryker Sales Company, together settling for over $100 Million.

Government Liability Law:

I represented The Regents of the University of California (UCLA, UCI, UCSD) in various general liability and labor matters. This included analysis of various defenses uniquely available to public entities in general, and The Regents in particular. I also defended the Regents in a whistleblower retaliation lawsuit, as well as labor mediation.

Labor Law:

Involved extensively in litigation and arbitration on various labor related issues including wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, and breach of union contracts. Represented trucking companies regarding numerous levels of union organization and grievances.

Products Liability:

First chaired a 2 1/2 week trial re: a triple fatality from an exploding motor home. Defended Mercedes Benz of North America in a claim regarding alleged defective brake line. Lead attorney on severe burn case allegedly resulting from a defective pressure relief valve. Lead attorney defending manufacturer of Christmas tree lights resulting in fatality.

Toxic Tort:

Significant involvement in case involving Eli Lilly and their product Spike 80W (tebuthiuron).

Corporate/business:

Advised businesses from small, start-up companies to those with multi-million dollars in annual sales. Prepared employment/independent contractor agreements, personnel policy manuals, various cross-purchase agreements, split-dollar agreements, operating agreements for LLCs and other corporate and business related documents.
